Your Cell Phone
2007-08-17
This just drives me nuts ... people talking on their cell phones when driving. I have a cell phone but I refuse to answer it or make calls when driving. I wait until after I get a chance to park my truck or just wait untill I get home to check messages and return calls.
It never drove me nuts until a woman who was talking on her phone rear ended me with her car at a stop light. That happened a few years ago. A good thing is that Washington State has now passed a law that will be taking effect soon that makes it illegal to talk when driving.
Soooo .... HANG UP YOUR CELL PHONES AND DRIVE!
Yeah damnit!
A Real Friend
2007-07-19
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself (and doesn't feel even the least bit weird shutting your Coke/Pepsi drawer' with his foot!)
A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears..
A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in their address book.
A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you
clean.
A simple friend hates it when you call after they've gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.
A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.
A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!
A simple friend reads this e-mail and deletes it.
A real friend passes it on and sends it back to you!
Happy Easter

I want to wish anyone who should read this a Happy Easter! Hope you have a good Easter Sunday spent with your family and/or friends. Take care! Until next time!Crystal Visions: The Very Best Of Stevie Nicks
2007-04-05
Stevie Nicks .... one of my all-time favorite female singers along with Sheryl Crow ... has released a greatest hits package this week titled CRYSTAL VISIONS: THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS.. I've been a fan of hers since she and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac back in 1973.
The CD opens with the original mastered studio version of "Edge of Seventeen" and closes with a live performance of the song recorded last summer with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It includes a live version of "Landslide" (also recorded with the Melbourne Symphony), a knock-out version of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll", the Deep Dish dance remix of "Dreams" and "Silver Springs" from the original master of RUMOURS.
The DVD component of CRYSTAL VISIONS offers 13 Stevie videos with voice-over commentary by Nicks as well as an audio interview by journalist David Wild. Also included on the DVD is a never before seen Stevie Nicks home video which was filmed during the making of the five-times platinum BELLA DONNA album.
I just picked the dual CD/DVD package and have watched a few of the videos on the DVD ... great stuff! Videos I remember watching on MTV and then some that I had never seen. The main reason I bought this is because of the DVD. I have her box set which most of these songs are already on ... except for the live stuff .... the two songs from TROUBLE IN SHANGRI-LA ... and the Dreams remix. Yep ... I am a true fan and will buy anything she puts out on the market. Now if she would only recorded a new CD. TROUBLE IN SHANGRI-LA ... her last CD of all new material ... came out in 20o1! So come on Stevie ... record some new music either with the Mac or solo!
"True" Friendship ... None Of That Sissy Crap!
2007-03-07
Are you tired of those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will
see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card- just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.
1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.
2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile -- I will know you finally got laid.
4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.
6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.
7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.
8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.
9. This is my oath..... I pledge it to the end. "Why?" you may ask; "because you are my friend".
Another Weekend Gone By!
2007-03-04
I can't believe another weekend has gone by ... wow! They sure do go by quick especially when you have a lot of stuff planned. I just wish the week days would go by quickly too!
Friday was a big bust when it came for any free time. Worked that morning but had to go back at 6:00 pm for three hours. A semi that was scheduled to be off loaded at 7:00 am was late due to the bad weather across the country. That was not big deal ... first time in years that this has happened. After finishing unloading the semi ... I just headed on home and hung-out for the rest of the evening and went to bed at 11:00 pm.
Saturday morning I slept in and man did it feel great! Had to be in town around 11:00 to get stuff for building a fence. After going to Homo Depot .... ooops ... I mean Home Depot I went to my parents house to wait for Denny. Managed to get a nap in before he finally made it up to Bellingham. We went shopping for groceries and other things as we were having a potlock dinner party at 6:00 pm. Had a great evening! Terry and Brian came over! My friend Lee was supposed to come but he got stuck working a double shift. So there was just the four of us. Didn't eat dinner until 8:00 ... planned on eating around 7! Denny's scallop potatoes took long than he thought. Any way .... it was about 10:30 pm when Terry and Brian left for home. When they left Denny and I decided to watch a movie before calling it a night.
Sunday morning Denny and I woke up around 10:30 am and just spent the morning being lazy. After a few cups of coffee we got our act together and went outside to start building the fence. It turned out to be a great day. The sun was out ... partly ... and it was fairly warm out. We got the fence up in no time! It only took us a few hours which was pretty good because we thought it would take longer .... at least I did. There is one area that I need to finish tomorrow as we ran out of post .... need a few more. I will get them tomorrow and finish it up! After that I fixed us lunch and we just hung out. Denny took a nap later on and I cleaned house and talked on the phone .... actually talked on the phone more than anything ... lol! At 4:00 pm we decided to head into town and go to Starbucks for a coffee and after an hour Denny hit the road for home ... he lives in Burlington! All in all ... it was another fantastic weekend!
Brilliant Disguise
2007-03-01
I hold you in my arms
as the band plays
What are those words whispered baby
just as you turn away
I saw you last night
out on the edge of town
I wanna read your mind
To know just what I've got in this new thing I've found
So tell me what I see
when I look in your eyes
Is that you baby
or just a brilliant disguise
I heard somebody call your name
from underneath our willow
I saw something tucked in shame
underneath your pillow
Well I've tried so hard baby
but I just can't see
What a woman like you
is doing with me
So tell me who I see
when I look in your eyes
Is that you baby
or just a brilliant disguise
Now look at me baby
struggling to do everything right
And then it all falls apart
when out go the lights
I'm just a lonely pilgrim
I walk this world in wealth
I want to know if it's you I don't trust
'cause I damn sure don't trust myself
Now you play the loving woman
I'll play the faithful man
But just don't look too close
into the palm of my hand
We stood at the alter
the gypsy swore our future was right
But come the wee wee hours
Well maybe baby the gypsy lied
So when you look at me
you better look hard and look twice
Is that me baby
or just a brilliant disguise
Tonight our bed is cold
I'm lost in the darkness of our love
God have mercy on the man
Who doubts what he's sure of
